Panic Disorder with Threatening Self Injury Co-morbidity

from:

Panic disorder has destroyed the lives of a lot of people. Everyday, more and more patients are complaining they have this disorder. However, there are still a number of individuals who continue to hide the truth from themselves.

This type of disorder is more than a feeling of being stressed out as experienced by most of the people who are so inclined. This is a sudden attack of irresistible fear that can’t be explained. Once you have this panic disorder you began to undergo an intense feeling of fear as if that nobody is willing to help you.

Panic attack also occurs without any prior signs or even a warning. Often, for no reason at all, a person just feels panic. The worse thing is that panic attacks are closely associated with several forms of phobias and anxiety disorders, such as depression.

If you would like to determine whether you’re already experiencing panic attacks, you can check the following symptoms:

• The heartbeat is beyond normal. The palpitation also continues to increase every second without you noticing it.

• A person grasps for breath as if s/he can’t get enough air for breathing.

• There’s an intense feeling of nervousness that can turn into quivering.

• You experience a frightening feeling that seems to be paralyzing.

• Nausea and dizziness coupled with severe perspiration, as if it will never stop.

• You experience chest pains while feeling as if something is blocking your throat.

• One develops an abnormal fear because of constantly thinking that you’re about to die.

One factor that makes it difficult for doctors in identifying if a person has had a panic attack is that its symptoms coexist with other conditions. This happens especially to people with a particular index disease. This is where co-morbidity enters. This is an association between two distinct disorders that is more than a coincidental.

Thus, one instance of a co-morbid condition is an existing disease that can cause another complication to a person, such as the hypertension that can frequently lead to stroke. Another is head trauma could risk the life of a person who suffers an epileptic attacks. This is how worse Co-morbidity works.

Panic attack is another clear case of Co-morbidity because it can lead to the self injury of a person. As you look at the common symptoms of panic attack, it occurs without reason and with no prior signs that a panic attack will hit. Self injury is actually one of the most threatening incidences that a person can encounter during his or her attack. He tends to loose consciousness and if nobody notices the person is having a panic attack, he can experience severe self injury.

Moreover, Co-morbidity can complicate any findings by a doctor usually due to overlapping symptoms that can occur between two different diseases. It’s very important for the doctors to find out the potential coexisting co-morbid conditions to make sure they can arrive at a credible diagnosis.

Therefore, if you’ve learned there are mitigating symptoms existing in your systems, this can lead to panic attack. So make sure you consult your doctor immediately before your situation gets worse.
