Dealing with Depression
Denial
When a person is in denial, he or she refuses to see the
reality of conditions or situations around them. Denial leads to
contradictions because, if a person refuses to see the truth, they
begin to deceive themselves. To help you see through denial, let's
consider a few definitions that can help understand the consequences
of denial.
Denial equals rejection, which leads to negative
response. Denial equals disagreement, which leads to conflict.
Denial equals denunciation, which leads to condemnation, criticism,
accusing, reproof and scolding. Denial equals defiance, which leads
to rebelliousness. Denial equals refusal, which promotes a negative
response.
If a person continues with their denial, it
will be evident where many depressive symptoms creep into their
mind.
Depression is an illness of the mind, which is affected by
our environment, thoughts and even our body. When the mind is in
denial, it can lead a person to believe there's no way out of your
condition or situation. This is untrue. There is always a way out of
problems.
Understanding depression can help a person see a way
out of their problems. Through trial and error it's been proven that
problems are solvable no matter how large the they are. Relating,
finding understanding and acceptance are the keys to manage and
conquer any situation, including depression.
However sometimes it's wise to seek expert support.
For instance, bipolar manias often suffer depressive symptoms.
Medicines may be helpful in restoring the chemicals that are out of
balance, including serotonin. However, keep in mind that
many antidepressants cause more harm than good. Therefore,
make an effort to learn about the various antidepressants designed
to treat depression before agreeing to take the prescription.
Doctors may get upset if you question their decision, but it's
important to understand that some medications can cause harm and
even death.
Discussing the types of medicines as well as the
therapeutic strategies with your doctor is advisable. Various types
of natural remedies are available to help you manage depressive
symptoms. Kava-Kava, Melatonin, 5-HTP, as well as
other natural remedies can help. Still, it's a good idea to learn
the truths and face reality while trying to eliminate denial and
find a way to recovery.
If you're suffering with a mild case of depression,
there are procedures you can do at home that without monetary cost.
For instance, writing is a perfect tactic in healing the mind, while
minimizing depressive symptoms.
Self-talk does wonders for the mind as
well. Forget the noise you've heard that talking to self
makes you crazy. Furthermore, forget the noise you've heard that
talking and answering your self is crazy, since it isn't. Rather,
it's a therapeutic treatment. In fact, self-talk can help you find
answers to your questions. In other words, it opens the mind to new
ideas and possibilities, which can help you find a way out of your
problems.
Role-play is another helpful way to treat
depression. Role-play is fantasy, pretense, play-acting,
imagining, stories and games alike, which then brings you to
reality.
Sit in a quiet area while visualizing self with
fictional friends in a room. The goal is to self-talk through
problems by putting self outside of your real life problems. For
instance, Mary said, "Janis you're wonderful." On the other hand,
Janis, your anger shows when Tom leaves you alone. We see
unfulfilled hearts in this pictures as well as a fear of
abandonment. We now can work to find the cause of the problem.
